The Patronato to the Fallen of Velo Veronese The new Velo Veronese Theatre
The idea of constructing a building to house a hall for cinema and the theater was in 1940. "The war prevented its realization," wrote Fr Marcellino Orlandi, pastor of Velo Veronese, in the booklet published in 1948, when he finally managed to complete the work.
The "Patronage of the Fallen", dedicated to sixty dead of two world wars cost the community of Velo Veronese eight million pounds, "three of which are in free offers" adds Don Orlandi. He, too, was photographed with wheelbarrow and shovel on the site that remained open only one year. Another picture portrays the department "Terrible," the elders of the country, as well their work.
In the booklet they were published the names, offers of money and free labor days. Donations came from voluntary associations, many benefactors outside the country and by the diaspora. "We also publish small offers of numbers but big and moving to the heart that has accompanied them," wrote pastor. It really moved by reading the names of many who contributed and worked, mentioned one by one, the district for the district.
A whole community believed in the idea and built it, giving and working for free. Seventy years later, Velo Veronese back to "reconstruct" its theater. To the contributions of the Veneto Region, the Municipality of Velo Veronese and Cariverona Foundation, they have been added - in order to cover the costs of renovation - the fundraising initiatives The Falie (the theater company and the chorus of Velo Veronese directed by Alessandro Anderloni) have promoted, involving their neighbors and so many wonderful benefactors, from everywhere, they are contributing generously.
In the new Velo Veronese theater Le Falie continue to tell stories and to sing and invent day. Thank you!
