The Museo Marino Marini is currently home to both the Documentation Centre inaugurated June 23, 1979 in the halls of the Palazzo Comunale in Pistoia that the Marino Marini Foundation, established in Pistoia on 29 November 1983 and recognized by the prefectural decree dated August 27, 1985.
And 'patrimony of the Centre, in addition to the works, a specialized library of Marino activity: monographs, catalogs, art magazines, as well as a comprehensive collection of press cuttings taken from newspapers from 1927 to date. They are also available to the public a bibliographic core consisting of volumes on art in general, a photo library, a Diateca and a video library.
The Marine Foundation was established in order to ensure the conservation, protection and enhancement of the work and heritage of Marino Marini, to promote a better knowledge both in Italy and abroad through the promotion and support of retrospectives , art publications and other initiatives, in particular research and study, designed to exploit the work and memory of the Artist. Supplied to the Foundation is the impressive collection of plaster casts as well as paintings, sculptures and drawings which together form a rich heritage at the disposal of tourists and scholars.
It 'important to stress the link between the Centre and the Marino Marini Foundation among them has always existed a close working relationship. The Foundation, through its international relations contributes to know the city, now linked to the name of Marino, organizing exhibitions around the world dedicated to the artist and collaborating, from time to time, the various administration initiatives. From a formal point of view, therefore, it is difficult to separate the two institutions which indeed form a "single body" both from an organizational and on the exhibition floor.
