The Museum of Mediterranean Textures Gibellina is a place where coexist harmoniously the traditions of three continents (Europe, Africa and Asia), the influences of three great cultures (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) and the most varied arts - ceramics, all 'jewelery, from textile production to painting and contemporary sculpture - with no distinction between "major" and "minor." The museum, the heart of Orestiadi Foundation, represents fifty years of history of the rebirth Belìce after the disastrous earthquake of 1968, which destroyed the city of Poggioreale, Salaparuta, Gibellina Montevago and precisely, the reconstruction of which have contributed to all artists the world making this single center in Sicily and privileged place for contemporary art in the new languages ​​experimentation. That's why the museum is the memory of the civilizations of the Mediterranean, and in 2011 won the ICOM Prize for Best Cultural Competence project.

The works are on display along a deliberately slender path, not markedly chronological. Each work tells the tools that generate the style, and overall seek to salvage a Mediterranean way of life and a new look to read the culture of our time.
