Montalcino

Once the core of the mighty Roman Empire, and the cradle of the Renaissance, it is also home to the greatest number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the world, including high art and monuments. The hill town of Montalcino is very famous for the wineyards around that produce the red wine Brunello. One of the best known of all italian wines, with an intense and persistent perfume, the Brunello can be aged for a long time. Ideally you would take it as an accompaniment to a dish of meat or with cheese.
