WELCOME AND WELCOME TO LOCANDA SAN GINESE!

We are in the task, also called Compitese, 8 km from the sixteenth-century walls of Lucca, in that flat area - but not too much - we are in "Località Collina", on the road from Lucca to Pisa, Florence, Vinci, Pontedera from there - along a somewhat unusual but beautiful road - it goes as far as San Gimignano, Volterra, Colle Val d'Elsa, Siena ...! We are on the slopes of Monte Serra where you can take walks ... gentle uphill and relaxing downhill on foot and by bike with picnic and hiking trip to the "Golden Words" nickname of the point where the aqueduct begins that seems Roman but it is not, built between 1823 and 1851 by architect Lorenzo Nottolini, on behalf of Elisa Baciocchi Princess of Lucca (sister of Napoleon Bonaparte) and, later, of the Duchess Maria Luisa di Borbone. Going up to Santallago on Monte Serra, it is exciting and beautiful to admire, on one side the city of Lucca and the hills of Capannorese with the marvelous villas and gardens of the eighteenth century and on the other Pisa and the Arno river that winds towards the sea. Our area is famous for the marvelous flowering of the camellias in March, the excellent oil, the wine, the tasty frantoiana soup and especially our village for giving the botanical name to a delicious little bean, called Fagiolo Cannellino di San Ginese! The inn was an old country house with a large hut (which, in the rest of Italy, is the barn). We have completely renovated respecting the original features and we have made four large rooms with private bathroom, with floors and terracotta bricks and ceilings characterized by beams, chains and rafters of chestnut ... Breakfast, lunches and dinners in the family are consumed in the cozy living room on the ground floor or, in the coldest months, in the "hut", the old barn, in front of the fireplace or, in good weather, under the veranda-pergola in front of the house. .. enjoying the view of the large hut with its red mandolato and garden, sipping a good wine, tasting some good Tuscan dishes and trying the different varieties of croutons! Maps and guides of the area, restaurant business cards, leaflets, event programs and much more, are always available to our guests ... almost as much as we are for them!
