Often referred to as the “city of joy”, Kolkata was the capital of British India from 1771 to 1911. Famous for its carnivals and celebrations, West Bengal is hosts some of the most interesting festivals in India – Durga Puja, Push Mela and Gangasagar Mela.

Bishnupur is a small town in the Bankura district in West Bengal, India. The place has a rich history and is famous for its terracotta artwork. The terracotta temples of Bishnupur are the finest instances of architectural terracotta in eastern India. The heritage terracotta temples have earned Bishnupur the sobriquet of the temple town.
