THE MISSION OF THE MUSEUM OF THE ORDINARY MUSEUM

Since 1872, the Ethnographic Museum has collected, archives, conserves, researches and conveys the traditional and modern cultural memories of Hungarian, European and non-European communities as one of the earliest ethnographic museums in Europe. A collection of objects, pictures, texts, sounds and thoughts that is rich and diverse source of knowledge of the world.

The Museum of Ethnography as a social museum is the reflexive venue for the research and presentation of past and present-day subject culture and social phenomena, the predominant Hungarian institute of museographies, ethnology and cultural anthropology. Due to its collection and knowledge portfolio, the Museum is also a starting point for understanding, accepting and respecting cultural memory, cultural diversity and changing identities for other sciences and arts. By combining knowledge, experience and experience, it provides an opportunity to formulate community and individual interpretations and attitudes.

The Ethnographic Museum is an open cultural space where the past is met with science, science and teaching where cultures and generations meet and talk to each other.
