No less than 17 of those monuments are listed as World Heritage Sites. However, the many charming little islands, sandy beaches and picturesque whitewashed coastal towns are at least as much a reason to come for the millions of tourists that this Mediterranean country receives each year.

Greece

The region is the center of the Greek mythologie, as in this region you will find the Mount Oeta and Mount Olympus which are the places were the gods in ancient times lived. Capital of the region is Larissa. There is no doubt that this city has to demonstrate a big historical wealth as it is the capital of the oldest region of Greece. Many archeological sites, theaters and castle ruins are waiting for you to explore. The region is also known for hiking and the Olympos National Park and the lost chapel and waterfalls. Meteora is also a place you should not miss to visit during your trip in the region. Part of the UNESCO World Heritage List, this rock formation will leave you stunned by its natural beauty.
