The groundbreaking ceremony for the Freilandsmuseum Neusath took place on March 28, 1980. Initially, it was planned to build 8 farmsteads. But then a concept was developed in which there was talk of settlement-like assemblies. In the meantime, 50 transferred and reconstructed buildings have now been converted into 30ha from the planned 8 yards - divided into five "villages", ie Upper Palatinate house landscapes. The paths, which are modeled on historic country roads from the 19th century, lead through the Stiftland-, Waldler-, Jura- and Naabtaldorf, as well as into the Mühlental through a historical cultural landscape. The fields are traditionally farmed by the museum's farmers, and on their tour of the museum visitors will encounter old domestic animal breeds such as geese, sheep, cattle, horses and goats. Peacocks, pigs and rabbits also inhabit the stables and pastures.
