The Natural History Museum Coburg has the rank of a national museum with its 700,000 collection pieces and an exhibition of 2,400 square meters. Its origin lies in the collecting activity of the Coburg dukes since the 18th century. The museum was officially founded in 1844. Since 1914 it has been housed in the purpose-built building in the Hofgarten, since 1919 owned by the Coburg State Foundation. After the expansion in 1996 we show in newly designed exhibitions minerals, fossils, domestic animals and plants, prehistoric people, ethnology and much more.
