The Rostock Museum, founded in 1859, dates back to the collecting activities of the former "Kunstverein zu Rostock" and the "Rostocker Altertumsverein" and houses a rich collection of paintings, prints and plastics, handicrafts, coins, furniture, toys, everyday culture and archeology the largest collections of the state.
The museum not only offers visitors extensive information and works of art from monastic life in Rostock, but also a wide range of art and cultural history collections. The richly decorated former monastery church and the historic rooms provide a unique setting for the modern designed permanent and temporary exhibitions.
