With about 82 million inhabitants, Germany is the most populous member state of the European Union. Schleswig-Holstein is mainly a maritime region, with ports on the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. Its largest port, Lübeck, is the historic capital of the Hanseatic League, which controlled commerce in much of northern Europe between the 13th and 17th centuries. And with these two seas: the wind, the watt, the waves, the tides here punctuate life. An ideal holiday spot for families, lovers of water sports and nature.
