Musée du Pays de Retz

Installed in the enclosure of a former Franciscan monastery built in 1332, the Museum holds a treasure trove of historical, cultural and traditional local.

You will discover everything about the old life, the artisans and farmers, salt workers and sailors, the old school, cultural life: caps, furniture, trinkets of daily existence. A short video documentary allows the discovery of Retz.

In summer, temporary exhibitions are set up and two days of animations and old trades demonstration is organized with folk groups, many games and restoration possibilities.

Access is possible for disabled people. Braille documents are made available to the blind. For children and school groups, we offer many museum discovery games. Explanatory booklets in English, German and Spanish are loaned to foreign visitors.
