Located in a beautiful hotel woad 16th century, the museum of the hotel Ardouin proposes to revisit the Neolithic Mazères history to today. This hotel is surrounded by a garden in the spirit of the Renaissance (medicinal plants, vegetable, topiary). A showroom presents the culture of pastel and history. Reproductions of medieval weapons are exhibited in the garden. The museum offers a permanent exhibition "Barbarians in Gaul South." It presents objects from excavations of the Merovingian necropolis Bénazet (5th-8th century). The visitor is expected to become an apprentice archaeologist to discover what were the people who were buried there, here about 1500 years. How did they live? What was their day? What was their belief? How are they dead? This "Barbarians in South Gaul" exhibition answers these questions and many more! The tour then continues with the story of Mazères central Middle Ages to the 19th century. (With the founding of the Abbey of Boulbonne, the creation of the walled town of Mazères, the evocation of Gaston Phoebus, wars of Religion and the architectural changes of the 19th century).
