Located at the entrance of the historic district of Strasbourg, La Petite France, the building dates from the mid-sixteenth century and was used to store millet (a cereal). Before the French Revolution, the house was inhabited by an Ammeister (Deputy Mayor at the time) Mr. Lempp. During the Revolution, the crowd, after having looted the Town Hall, (formerly Place Gutemberg) then invaded and sold the house. In the 1790s, it was bought by a notary and this house has remained to this day a notary office. Since 2010, it is the property of a family from Strasbourg passionate about history and who is keen to renovate this place and give it back its splendor of yesteryear.
