The realization of a golf in the Chamonix Valley dates back to 1930. It materializes the desire of hotel owners - Savoy Alps Simond - to meet the Anglo-Saxon customer who was staying the summer in Chamonix.

After a search of land potentially suitable for the construction of a golf course, it is ultimately the site of Praz who was retained by Mr. Lavaivre, then Mayor of Chamonix.

Anecdotally, two autochenilles the Yellow Cruise offered by André Citroën, which were used to extract stem the field. These vehicles were used in winter for skijoring - The skijoring (term derived from the Swedish Skijöring and / or Norway skijoring)

Golf was opened in 1934 with four holes. The nine holes were completed the following year and inaugurated on July 20, 1935. The extension to 18 holes, difficult to achieve because of land problems in the valley, was decided by the municipality in 1972.

After a few years spent on land acquisition and preliminary studies, work was undertaken in 1977 and the 18 hole golf course was inaugurated on 26 September 1982. The new Golf and its equipment has been made thanks to the initiative and determination of Mr. Maurice Herzog, then Mayor of Chamonix. Indeed, it wanted to acquire a Chamonix 18 holes of high level. Thus he confided the design of the course at the famous American architect Robert Trent Jones Sr. who has many references to his credit in the world.

This initiative was extended by the will of his successors, Messrs Christian Couttet and Michel Charlet. And lately, it's Eric Fournier, Mayor of Chamonix, which renewed the concession of Golf for the benefit of the Sports Association for a period of 9 years.
