In 1989, after closing 10 years ago of the local cinema, the City of Saint Pol sur Ternoise was acquiring a new room - The Regency - fitted in the basement of the old Chapel of the Black Sisters, vessel recorded inventory of Historical Monuments of France, which also houses the City Museum.

Since The Regency is equipped with a new technical equipment (screen, chairs, computer ticketing ..) while keeping its architectural charm. The room is managed by the association Culture and Cinema in Ternois.

The cinema has 140 seats. It is open daily, year round. It offers nearly 200 films a year, some in preview or in national output, and mostly programmed in the weeks following their release.

The Regency has weekly movies towards all audiences. Programming is generally composed of a film recommended Arthouse, a film for young audiences, and one said the film "Grand Public" (which does not prevent the films "Arthouse" and Young Audiences of be "Consumer")

In addition, each spectator has a special rate with reducing opportunities for groups and the faithful of the room.

The Regency has gained real recognition, both in the workplace and in the public Saint Polois and well beyond ... It is a cultural tool must close within the City of Saint Pol sur Ternoise and surrounding towns and far beyond.

Today the will to combine quality and diversity, the Regency welcomes 30,000 spectators annually meadows and got the Label Young Audience in addition to the Arthouse classification.

The policy of the Regency is to provide a programming varied movies by giving each spectator, whatever their age or social status, the choice of a cultural outing or fun, especially in a rural area without tools cultural adapted.

A special welcome is reserved to young audiences for whom the cinema remains the cultural output.

Yet even if the film is primarily a leisure, The Regency is working to become a place for meetings and discovery, promoting social and cultural integration.

It contributes to the learning of reading of the image and the development of critical thinking of young spectators on time and outside school hours.

Several times a year, the Regency offers entertainment for Young Audiences, including smaller, around recent movies but also classics, allowing to educate children on the 7th Art with a guide, sometimes even share a snack is offered to them in the cinema.

The Regency is much more than a venue. This is a lively place, a place of meetings with film professionals. Regularly, Regency's team hosts a director, a technician or a critic who come to meet their public. As part of a regular partnership with associations and local or regional institutions, thematic evenings with guests or targeted events are promptly implemented.

The Regency participated in all arrangements put in place by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Culture as: the Cinema School, Students and apprentices in cinema, the Education Plan for Images for colleges in conjunction with the Council General of the Pas de Calais and educational premises contracts.

And image playback is no longer a secret for participants, because all of these actions is provided by imaging professionals.

The Regency has a close relationship with several local and regional associations but also with the DRAC, the Chambre Syndicale of harvesters .... The Regency is partnering with other promotional structures of film art: Association Plan Arras Report, the Regional Centre for Audiovisual Resources (CRRAV) The Regional Agreement Nord Pas de Calais ...
