Simple fortified house in the fourteenth century, it was enlarged during the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries but in the eighteenth it took its current face: Charles Armoises of application (probably without historical supporting evidence) to Germain Boffrand to begin construction of a new castle grafted onto the old parts: it is from there that day the magnificent façade overlooking the Seille. Subsequently, the castle is undergoing major damage during the 1st World War, but will be gradually rebuilt from 1920 and historical monument in 1926. In 1934, the Marist brothers bought the castle and installed a school and a boarding school. During the 2nd World War it was occupied by the Hitler Youth and suffered further damage during the fighting of the Liberation. From 1946 to 1979, various campaigns work partially restore the castle was then abandoned. In 1993, the SIVOM between Seille and Nied castle gate to rehabilitate the buyer, with the support of Europe, the State and the General Council of Moselle (cost of rehabilitation: € 2,686,000). It now houses a public elementary school, called School of Armoises, more than 150 students and an association (the Foyer Rural Armoises) that manages the after-school and canteen on site and it offers numerous cultural and sporting activities. Due to the high cost of rehabilitation, the roof could not be restored in 1993. But it is high time to do so to preserve the entire building. These complex works and large scale for school Union (SIVU Valley Seille) are scheduled over four years by a Chief Architect for Historical Monuments: from 2012 to 2015. This is indeed restore the entire blankets (slates or tiles according to the building) multi-sided, to replace the entire drainage system of rainwater and carry out all the necessary related interventions (masonry , finials, insulation etc.). The estimated cost of this operation amounts to € 2,160,000 H.T. and will be partly financed by the State, the Region Lorraine and the General Council of Moselle. But by remaining dependent SIVU Valley Seille, with a limited budget only funded the participation of its member municipalities, remains consistent. In parallel to this work, SIVU (now SIVOM of Armoises) must always ensure the continued operation of the school program but also to other work, for example, the rehabilitation of the basin, the replacement of frames, restoration medieval towers or restoration of the park and gardens.
