Located in the Poitou-Charentes region in the department of Vienne, the Abbey of Saint-Savin sur Gartempe is one of the major monuments of western Europe.
Its abbey church is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage since 1983, under two criteria: it is considered a masterpiece of human creative genius while the remarkable testimony of a vanished civilization.
At the heart of the villages of Montmorillonnais countries (the crossroads of Poitou, Berry and Limousin) and Mecca of the Romanesque culture in all its forms (architecture, sculpture, painting ...), Abbey opens the door to "the Valley fresco "which includes eight buildings decorated with murals built on the banks of the Gartempe.
