Kalundborg Golf Club was founded on March 14, 1974 as club number 41 within the Danish Golf Union.

We then started with a membership of 105, incl. junior and passive members. It was in full understanding with then Mayor J. Hagemann Petersen, who suggested that there could be land in the area at the landfill in Tømmerup, which was expected to be completed before the end of 1975.  Unfortunately, as a "foundation gift" we were told that a new machine had been invented that could compress the waste so that it would take a few more years. In addition, there was sudden interest in housing construction in a part of the land that was planned to incorporate into the "golf area".

Thus - golf club without soil! Club members should have tuition!

The coach of Korsør, Jørgen Klinggaard, was hired to teach indoors: The Director-Residence to Kalundborg Slagteri in Nygade !! It worked that winter, it also became some club nights.

Outdoor training took place at Møllebakken (on the net) and the network was later moved to Gisseløre on the training course, where we also trained juniores and where the Women's Club was started (a flag in every corner!) During the summer we got the doctors Hansen and Levinsen made land available at Hjorthøj.  Forgemaster Otto Christensen made "cups" and flagpoles. Pipes were at the smithing shop at Rafinaderiet cut into slices and wiped a spear to tee-spot markings (note: they are still used!)

The area facing the former gravel grave was provided with red poles (parallel water hazards), in one of the valleys were a few bushes, they were surrounded by yellow piles (water hazard) and of course white poles towards the gardens of Hjorthøj. On September 1st, 1974 we had the first match and the match office was a haystack. The trainer's sales took place from the backpack of his car. During the autumn we were given a 6-man scrubber made available by Øresø Limtræs factory. It served as a clubhouse all the time we were at Hjorthøj. Around the "flags" there was a rye bread clover flattened a bit and sprinkled gravel to "Greens"! and here at Hjorthøj, people actually learned what golf was. The "track" worked for almost two years. In 1975, the industrial area at Holbækvej was planned. Due to two burial mounds on the site, the piece of land was sorted off, and we got it available for "temporary" golf course and we received 15,000 kr. From the municipality for the construction of the track! JW drew 6 holes and it became 5 par-3 holes and one par-4 hole. Bunkers were made and a little wet area was further hollowed out, so it almost came to look like a lake.

There we moved out on May 15, 1976. The clubhouse got a little bigger: A. Jespersen & Søn gave us a canteen, which was set up. We bought a small shed for 500 kroner. It became machine room, between the two sheds were set up a tile and the area was covered. In the shed we had a gas appliance and in winter we kept the heat using a pig heater. The course was taken care of by "ourselves", sometimes juniores, for example. was the present Christian Greve Lerche-Lerchenborg a summer our fairway-passer. He stopped because he had hay fever! Meanwhile, areas were seen on several sites. Among other things. We received from Lawaetz then the landlord offered to look at Røsnæsgården as an opportunity. It looked good, but we were not very happy about the 22km. henceforth, it fell happily to the ground without a sword stroke, when L. himself replied that, in further thought, he would rather see cattle than golfers on earth. After many different presentations, Hagemann-Petersen found Kildekærgård, which he acquired on behalf of the municipality in the event of a change of mood and wrestling in connection with the sports ground in Ulstrup, and the area was laid out for golf course.

On August 27, 1981, the board and active committee with spouses could hold a smaller start of the course and then we moved to Røsnæsvej 225. It was and still is the municipality's property. The course was designed by Jan Sederholm (who came up with several suggestions) but brought by the municipality's then horticultural department, and no funds were available for Sederholm to supervise the work - so some things are not entirely in line with the work drawings that existed . The house was allowed to co-determine if it should have been included. furnishing in the style of other sports houses in the municipality, but at some point it became apparent that we wanted furniture, so we had to take care of it. The folding chairs are for example. bought on sale and many members gave $ 100 for 4 chairs. The old countertops were delivered by Øresø, while EC-Hospital-fixtures supplied table tops. The first cups and glasses were bought from the money we received when selling beer, water and coffee.

The official initiation took place on 12 June 1982, and there was a visit by then the chairman of DGU, Professor Niels Thygesen, who struck No. 2 battles! The first blow was hit by mayor Aage Brejnrod (from the start a big opponent of the golf course) who did not accept the offer of golf swing training. There was a reception with many invited and many uninvited also came and greeted and gave gifts. There was a showdown where our own pro, Preben Jacobsen, our then club champion, Niels Bagge, DGU.s General Secretary (formerly pro) Henrik Jacobsen and then Denmark champion Merete Meiland played 9 holes and despite the slightly cool weather it was very positive that so many followed the match.

course: In the beginning there were green tee places on all holes, but at some point we found out, that it was only necessary on the water holes, we locked the 6 and kept the green tee places on the 3 that still exist. The training course was not the best possible but only possible, and the shop was at the beginning "Entreen" in the clubhouse. It was a bit squeezed - but a lot of the door was sold there. Former merchant Mogens Petersen was employed as a greenkeeper from the start and his wife Else as a housekeeper.  They worked together for some years, helping to establish the club's daily life. In 1989 Else was replaced by Birthe Wissing, and in 1990 we got a new greenkeeper, Niels Roer Nielsen, while Mogens Petersen continued part-time. In March 1991, our current house factotum Inga Hansen, which in the meantime has made the kitchen expanded a lot !! The old barn first served as engine room, while the smaller garage at the north end of the building was used as a back room, and at a time when the house was remodeled and the kitchen extended with the entrance, the southern end of the barn was changed to the shop, it was an improvement for our then pro, Preben Jacobsen. When the collaboration with Preben J. ceased, we had some years of more or less lucky pros. It became stable only at the beginning of 1994, where our own Lars Bagge joined the pro. During 1993, a great wish was fulfilled: The municipality managed to find funds to buy the vanguard on Nostrupvej, and a new local plan in 1994 allowed the construction of new 9 holes and a training course on the farm's adjacent land.

The new training course was put into service in 1995 - and the first 3 holes were built.

The remaining 6 holes on the eastern part of the earth were started in autumn 1995.

In autumn 1994, an extension and rebuilding of the clubhouse was approved by the municipality and adopted. The work was commenced in autumn 1994, between Christmas and New Year the old hen house was demolished and over the next 3 months the new house was constructed and decorated, a very large part of the work was carried out by members who made their efforts and, especially, time available and resulted in a lovely house that could work for a long time - also with many new members . In the past few years, membership has risen quite slowly until it was decided to stop access. As the expansion of the track turned out to be realized, opened for access - and so many new members joined ... 08 / 03-96Lizzi Wessel.
