If you’re looking for a mix of history and pretty views then you need to check out the National Memorial and walk around the beautiful park at Vitkov Hill!

Are you interested in history and beautiful views? At Vitkov Hill you get both! Vitkov Hill used to be one big vineyard that went all the way to the Vinohrady neighbourhood where Riegrovy and Havlicek Gardens are located. But Vitkov hill isn’t just rich in wine history, there were also historical battles that took place on the slopes of Vitkov.

The history of the memorial itself dates back almost 100 years and highlights important historical events such as the Czechoslovak legionaries, WWII, and communism. All of this information and more can be found inside the museum at the top of Vitkov Hill!

Nowadays Vitkov is known for its amazing viewpoints overlooking the city and the beautiful trails that can be found throughout the park. If you’re interested in some history or just want a nice evening with a great view you can do both up at Vitkov Hill.

Once you’ve got your dose of history from the National Memorial and views of the city head down to the neighbourhood of Karlín. Karlín is a hip, up-and-coming neighbourhood with great cafes and microbreweries.

  • Go inside the National Memorial at the top of Vitkov Hill. Inside you can find information about the battle of Vitkov and other significant events that played a significant impact into what we now call the Czech Republic. You can find ticket prices here.
  • The slopes of Vitkov Hill were known for cultivating wine and hops and over the years have transformed into beautiful green areas with a wide variety of trees.
  • More and more money is being put into transforming Vitkov Hill into a special place to visit. Be prepared for a new plaza with a restaurant, cafe, and a few shops coming to the hill in the near future.
