Ready to visit a city within a city? That’s exactly what you’ll get while exploring Liebieg’s town in Liberec.
The Liebieg Town is a real piece of history you can’t miss on your trip to Liberec. In the nineteenth century, Liberec was interwoven with the textile industry of the Liebieg family. Factories grew, but homes for workers did not. From the middle of the 19th century until the 1920s, this interestingly designed housing estate was built near the factory.
This town was equipped with everything that the families of the workers needed at the time. There was a kindergarten, school, and on the lower floors of the buildings at the gate there were shops and a pub.
As you walk through the streets of Liebieg, be sure to pay attention to all the different details on the walls, roofs, windows and doors. Unfortunately, over time, the houses were reconstructed and historical details were lost, but you can still find some houses in their original form.
Each building has a uniquely hand carved door. If you look close enough you will find engravings with different years and dates on the doors. Be sure to walk through all the adjacent streets. Each street will show something unique!
