**One of the biggest waterfalls in the Czech Republic! Mumlava waterfall is one of the prettiest waterfalls in the whole country. **

Mumlava waterfall (“Mumlavský vodopád”) is one of the most popular waterfalls in the Czech Republic. The waterfall is about 9 meters high! Visit in summer to see a watery paradise flowing down into the river. Visit the Mumlava waterfall in the winter to see the frozen stream and icefall. It’s beautiful in every season!

  • We highly recommend visiting in the early morning to avoid the crowds. The Mumlava waterfall is well-known and can be touristy sometimes, but still well worth a visit.
  • The name of the waterfall “Mumlava” comes from the German word “murmeln” meaning mumble referring to the sound the waterfall makes. You’ll totally get the name when you visit!
  • Where to go next? Follow the blue tourist sign along the road uphill. You’ll trek along the river towards some nice, smaller waterfalls. After that there’s always the nearby mining museum.
  • Other than seeing the waterfall, there’s plenty to do here. The Mumlava waterfall rests in Harrachov, a mountain resort full of activities like bike rentals, cross-country skiing in the winter, and plenty of shops and restaurants.

Short walk to the waterfall

To get to the waterfall from the car park, you’ve got a choice of two 1 km walking trails. Both routes are easy to complete. You can find a map of the walk here.

The first route leads around the nearby mining museum, then along a rocky forest path towards the waterfall; simply cross the road from the car park and follow the sign to the museum.

The second route goes from the car park to the left and the crossroads at the right. You’ll pass by the Mumlavská bouda Restaurant. There’s not too much to see on the route itself, but it’s the best choice if you have a pram or wheelchair.

Get up early in the morning and arrive in Harrachov on time. Definitely the first stop must be Mumlava waterfall. At this time you will have a waterfall for yourself. Then you can stop at the mining museum and walk through the local underground. Take your jacket with you. You will definitely get hungry after this experience, so go to a local restaurant. You will find a lot of them here.
