A cozy castle hidden in the south of the Czech Republic, Malenovice Castle lies among the mountains of Zlin on the outskirts of the city. This hidden gem is a nice highlight on any hiking trip or a small stop for the culturally curious. The castle dates back to the 14th century and holds plenty of local history in its walls. Malenovice Castle also offers family friendly tours and pleasant views of the natural surroundings of Zlin.

Castle Tour: The short tour of the castle features exhibits on the local wildlife, minerals, and crafts including the making of Vizovice yummy pastries. It’s a unique mix for sure with plenty of local vibes. The highlight of the tour is the climb to the top of the tower, where you’ll get a view of Zlin. The castle tour is nice, but if you’re just here to enjoy the pretty surroundings the outside of the castle is where it looks its best.

• Night tours: more of a night owl? Bring along family and friends for a nighttime medieval tour through the castle. Tours are medieval themed and last about 50 minutes, starting at 19:00 to 22:00.
• Kid friendly: the castle is often visited by local schools and families. The exhibits of Malenovice are child friendly, though the info panels are mostly in Czech.
• Other events: Malenovice hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including craft fairs and a Christmas market. These events usually have an entrance fee.
