The Porto Alegre Museum Joaquim Felizardo is headquartered in Luso-Gonçalves, a Luso-colonial style building built between 1845 and 1853, in the former Rua da Margem, now known as João Alfredo. It was created in 1979 with the purpose of gathering historical and cultural collections of the city. It currently houses archaeological, photographic and three-dimensional collections of the city. It has two permanent and one temporary exhibitions; Guided exhibition service for groups and schools upon appointment; research service in the collections and various events to be held in the different spaces of the institution.
