The Manor known historically as "Casa Padre Toledo" is one of the most precious cultural assets built in the 18th century in Tiradentes, Minas Gerais. The construction of the period of mineral exploration in the then Vila de São José del-Rei, formerly the Comarca of the Rio das Mortes, is a building that houses thresholds of diverse spaces and times of great importance in social, political and cultural life. Until 1789 the house attracted the attention of the region, when in it resided for 12 years, Father Toledo, master of great possessions and one of the most active characters of the Inconfidência Mineira. The presence of the parish priest marked this site that witnessed meetings and meetings between several illustrious figures of the period. The refinement of the building is comparable to the noble dwellings of Portugal and to some sacristy of eighteenth-century churches. One of its most sophisticated aspects is the set of painted linings, whose authorship remains unknown. The volume of the work is remarkable, since the paintings are present in nine of the fifteen rooms and applied with diverse artistic techniques of composition. The formal solution is presented in structured geometric arrangements in the linings divided into multiple frames. The frames that separate them value the different levels of the surfaces on which the paintings are applied. In 2012, the Casa Padre Toledo Museum was re-inaugurated, after having undergone a complex restoration process carried out by UFMG. The new expographic project values the architecture and artistic elements of the plot and its possible uses at that moment in history, as well as presenting a collection of objects belonging to the Brazilian artistic culture.
