**Tick, tock. You’ve got to make time to see this quirky fantastic clock tower on your trip. **

**Zimmer Tower **

A gorgeous and quirky clock that's photoworthy, the Zimmer Tower is a must-see landmark in Lier. Louis Zimmer made the clock in the 1930s. It still works! The clock has 13 faces and 56 dials which make it quite an artistic sight. You’ll even see a globe at the bottom. Each face tells a different time - continents, the tides, and more. It’s pretty much included in every tour of Lier as a landmark highlight and for good reason.

  • Explore the sides of the tower too. The sides show the four stages of life each featuring a different person or character, including writer and activist Anton Bergmann and metal worker Louis van Boecke
  • Check out the tower at noon to see the carousel that pops out from the side of the tower. You’ll see bits of Belgium’s history like the coat of arms, the first three kings, and mayors of Lier.
  • Get shopping. The weekly market is held in this square on Saturdays (8:00-13:00). You’ll find plenty of local food, clothes, flowers, and accessories.

**Museum **

If you have time and interest, Explore the little museum next door to see the inner workings of Zimmer’s greatest clock creation . The main attraction of the museum is being able to go inside the clock to see how it works. But there are other bits that are worth seeing too like tools from Zimmer’s workshop.

  • Inside the museum you’ll also come across Zimmer’s “Wonder Clock” which has 93 dials. Clock fans will love this little museum. Everyone else should at least see the Zimmer Tower.
  • The first floor of the museum holds Zimmer’s Astronomical Studio with a revolving disk on the ceiling. You’ll find more info on clocks and Zimmer’s history here.
  • The second floor is entirely made up of the clock's gear mechanism. It’s here you can visit inside of the tower
