Trek into a river canyon and walk across bridges with rivers and waterfalls as you follow the Trôs-Marets stream on this 5km hike loop through the Wallonian countryside.
Begin at the Ferme Libert restaurant to embark on this trail that follows a mountain stream from cascade to cascade. From the starting point you’ll head straight into the forest towards the Trôs-Marets that you’ll no doubt hear in the distance hurling itself into the valley. The path sometimes runs along the side of the hill and can be quite tricky in places, but there’s a cable installed onto the rock at one point in case you need some extra stability. Just remember to watch your step (and your kids!) while you’re admiring the view!
The route continues over quaint wooden bridges and through the narrowing valley until you leave the canyon altogether to be greeted by an open landscape. Enjoy views of the nearby hills of the High Fens as you make your way back to the starting point.
- The route is super easy to follow and clearly indicated everywhere, just follow the MDY 10 signage: a blue rectangle and vulture logo.
- The trail is around 5km and should take around 1.5 hours to complete.
- There is an alternate starting point at Camping du Moulin which adds an additional 2.5km onto the route, but you will have to go back on yourself at the end.
Tips and Tricks
- The path can be difficult in places so wear suitable footwear and be aware if you bring any young children.
- Stop in at Ferme Libert to grab refreshments at the end of the walk.

- By Car: parking on Route de la Ferme Libert (car park at the hotel and restaurants is reserved for customers)
- By bus: Bus stop BEVERCE Auberge de Jeunesse is 1km away. Bus 397 stops here
