**Fly into the art studio of Panamarenko on a tour of his restored unique home. **
Welcome artists and museum hoppers to the newly reopened Panamarenko House. Only open for tours for now, the house takes you through the life and style of one of Belgium’s most influential artists. Did you know that he created most of his work from his home studio? Come take a peek into the life of the artist. You might just get some inspiration.
The artist, Panamarenko, retired in 2005 and shortly after donated his home and art to the nearby Museum of Contemporary Arts (MHKA). MHKA restored the house, paying attention to the smallest of details. Since you don’t have a time machine, this is the closest authentic experience you can get to visiting Panamarenko’s studio.
About Panamarenko: let’s fly into the world of art. Fun fact - Panamarenko is actually a pen name referring to the Pan American Airlines and Company. Yup, this guy really loves his planes and you’ll see that all over his house. Henri Van Herwegen, aka Panamarenko, made a bunch of models and sculptures inspired by aeroplanes, balloons, helicopters and more. What’s unique about them, though, is that none of them are built to take flight. They just look awesome. If you’re into the rule of cool, then Panamarenko is for you.
