Stop by the charming village of Maboge for swimming, fishing and kayaking in the Ourthe river.

Enjoy the peaceful, green setting of Maboge beach nestled into the beautiful surroundings of La Roche-en-Ardenne by sunbathing or splashing in the river on a warm summer’s day. Sure, some might argue that a grassy bank by the side of the river doesn’t qualify as a beach, but there’s so few spots in Belgium where you’re allowed to wild swim, we’ll take what we can get!

  • Access to the beach is free and you’re welcome to swim and fish in the river. The water isn’t too deep so it’s great for kids!
  • There are BBQs, benches and picnic tables so you can easily make a day of it. There’s even a bar café on site during peak periods along with sun beds for those Costa del Maboge vibes.
  • Fun with the kids: playgrounds and sandpits are available for the little ones to keep themselves occupied out of the water.
  • If you are into kayaking, Maboge is also one of the starting points for a descent of the Ourthe.

  • There are public changing rooms, showers and toilets on site.
  • The water quality is checked every 2 weeks so don’t be scared to dive right in!
  • Pack warm clothes, it can get quite chilly in the evenings and you might want to stick around and hang by the fire.
