Float your way through the summer as you relax, swim and explore the surrounding nature at this mecca of recreation.

You’ve got the Robertville dam to thank for this outdoor nature destination. Since it began holding back the Warche river 90 years ago, the 200-acre lake of Robertville les Bains was created surrounded by dense forest and offers up the perfect spot to enjoy a splash on a sunny day.

  • Robertville-les-Bains is the recreational area on the lake where you can go swimming, boating, diving and all-round exploring at the lake. There’s even a sandy beach! So pack your swimsuit, picnic and don’t forget those summer vibes...

  • Swimming: There’s a decent sized area in the lake cordoned off for swimming with a water trampoline and diving platform. If you have any skills you want to show off just be aware that every Sunday you’ll be up against the diving club! The water here is of natural purity and the swimming area is manned by a lifeguard, so you can be safe in the knowledge that someone’s watching the kids if you just want to shut your eyes in the sun for a hot sec.

  • Boating: Keen to head a bit further out? Rent a pedal boat, electro-boat or rowing boat to cruise on out into the lake and take in the natural beauty. The pedal boats take up to 5 passengers so you can probably get away with pretending to pedal. Sit back and rela at Robertville les Bains.

Barrage de Robertville

You can find the barrage (dam) on the west side of the lake near Reinhardstein. Not only has the dam created a beautiful lake across 67 hectares to enjoy natural recreation, it is also a fundamental piece of the surrounding area. Built almost 100 years ago(!) between 1925 and 1928, the dam is an impressive 182m long and 54.5m high and supplies not only drinking water to the city of Malmedy, but occasionally electricity via the Bévercé-Malmedy power station.

Hiking

Check out the Panorama on the Warche Hike which starts and ends at the Robertville dam for stunning views of the Warche Valley. Get up close to Castle Reinhardstein and find the nearby waterfall.

Some of the best views of Lake Robertville can be seen from the Haelen Bridge which crosses the lake right in the middle. Drive across the bridge for a quick fix or park in the car park on the north side if you want to go by foot and take some pics.
