**A medieval tower tucked away just outside the city centre of Brussels. **

Aka around Saint-Jacques, La Tour de Villiers is one of the last remaining pieces of Brussels' medieval architecture along with the Black Tower. Once upon time, this fairytale-like tower defended Brussels from attack in the 13th century. These days, it's a unique thing to see in the capital as you wander through the city. A hidden spot in Brussels!

The tower hasn’t always stood on its own. Courtine de Villers, a wall by the tower, collapsed back in 2018. We’re just glad the tower is still around to add that medieval charm to Brussels character.

  • La Tour de Villiers is actually a short walk from well known sights including the Manneken Pis.
  • While La Tour de Villiers is more of a photo spot and doesn’t have too much to do, we recommend dropping by to really see the medieval bit of Brussels next door to its modern, everyday sights.

Tips and Tricks

  • Courtine de Villers was more than 800 years old when it collapsed! La Tour de Villiers is in pretty good shape for a ruin, so we’re sure it’ll be sticking around for a while yet.
