Get That Vintage

There’s nothing better than finding a good bargain. In Kloosterstraat’s antique, vintage and second hand stores you’ve got plenty to choose from. Robin Kowalski Antiques has items from the 20th and 19th century, Christel Dauwe has hand-decorated Christmas decor all year round, and Brigitte Aerden Antiques has stuff from as far back as the 17th century.

**Boutiques for Days **

Kloosterstraat isn’t just known for the antique goodies. You’ll find lots of charming boutiques along the streets. Salima Thakker offers bespoke jewellery, Supergoods has eco-fashion, and Belartisan has all the artisanal Belgian goods you could ever wish for.

Most of Antwerp is closed on Sundays, but Kloosterstraat is more alive than ever. Tourists and locals browse the shops, spill out onto the streets, and stroll along to the antique market.

  • Visit on Sundays to also pay a visit to the flea market (on Sint-Jansvliet). This flea market is slightly smaller than others around but has good quality antiques and a great atmosphere
  • While you’re there, look out for Guirlande Antwerpen. It’s on the front of an antique shop on Kloosterstraat 81. The unusual looking sculpture is sorta symbolic of the antique district and pays homage to Tony Bogaert - he was one of the first antique dealers on Kloosterstraat.
  • Keen antique hunters should also check out Leopoldstraat. The antiques on Leopoldstraat will be in a higher price range, though.
  • Bringing the kids along? There’s a sand park at the junction of Goedehoopstraat. Worth checking out if they (or you!) need a break. Or head over to the DIVA museum to see tons of pretty jewellery on display
