Stunning and historically significant, the Bourse of Antwerp was the Stock Exchange of Antwerp in the 16th century

Built in 1531, this place is older than you’d think! But age hasn’t come gracefully. Destroyed in a fire in the 1880s and left abandoned until recently, this former stock exchange is rising from the ashes as a restaurant and soon-to-be hotel venue.

You can just stroll through, have a meal or attend public events to get a good look at this gorgeous and historic building.

  • So pretty it inspired other stock exchange buildings to be built. No, seriously, it’s considered the first stock exchange that was ever built.
  • The grand patio is in a gorgeous neo-gothic style; it’s a 19th century fancy style that looks stunning with high ceilings and archways
  • The history of this place is off the charts. Look up and you’ll see many coats of arms hanging up by the ceiling on verdant green metal.
  • On top of it being the former Stock Exchange, trade fairs were also held here. That’s why they keep trade maps all over the walls. Spot your home on the map
  • Inside you’ll find a high-end restaurant (Fiera). It is highly rated so if you’ve got the cash to spare it’s worth a visit, but you don’t have to eat there to see the building.
  • Sit in the covered terrace with a drink from the bar and then take a walk around to Meir, one of the biggest shopping streets in Antwerp
  • Antwerp is filled with tons of gorgeous architecture and must-see photo spots. Don't miss the Art Nouveau streets in [The Golden Triangle](/activities/belgium/the-golden-triangle-(cogels-osylei?map=true) or the diamond symbol of Antwerp - the [Harbour House](/activities/belgium/harbour-house-(havenhuis?map=true)
