Take a group, enjoy a romantic afternoon or simply stop off on your cycling route at this cross-border winery.
A perfect stop for wine lovers and sun-worshippers, try a glass (or five) of Aldeneyck’s wines on their wine terrace with a view of where they came from. The best part? You don’t even have to worry about which one to choose - select small tasting glasses of 5cl to try a few of their impressive range.
The perfect spot
Located along the banks of the River Maas, the terroir (natural environment where wine is made including the soil, climate etc.) is perfect for growing grapes. Thanks to climate change (the ONLY blessing), this area is now relatively dry and has been super beneficial to winemakers in the region. And it doesn’t stop at the border. With the left bank of the river in Belgium and the right in the Netherlands, Aldeneyck has been able to declare themselves as the first cross-border wine region “on the planet”!
The success of the grapes has meant Aldeneyck wines have won several awards and even been granted a Protected Designation Original (PDO) status. This means the location is SO good, it’s been designated to the production of their just-as-awesome wine.
Tasting: Make yourself comfortable on the terrace in the summer months to try all of the Aldeneyck wines. There’s also the option to try them in the wine shop and tasting room so the fun doesn’t stop when it’s raining! The team at the winery are happy to greet guests with an explanation of how their wine is made and some info on the taste, and guided tours can be arranged in advance.
