Yerevan

Located in West Asia on the Armenian Highlands, it is bordered by Turkey to the west, Georgia to the north, Azerbaijan to the east, and Iran to the south. The terrain is mostly mountainous, with fast flowing rivers, and few forests. The land rises to 4,090 metres above sea level at Mount Aragats. The climate in Armenia is markedly highland continental. Summers are dry and sunny, lasting from June to mid-September. Evening breezes blowing down the mountains provide a welcome refreshing and cooling effect. Springs are short, while autumns are long. Autumns are known for their vibrant and colourful foliage. Winters are quite cold with plenty of snow. Winter sports enthusiasts enjoy skiing down the hills of Tsakhkadzor, located thirty minutes outside Yerevan.

Armenia

Yerevan is the capital of the province and Armenia, as well as one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities. Yerevan is also considered as one of the safest cities in the world. If you decide to stop by, you will visit a lot of landmarks such as the Erebuni Fortress, the Katoghike Tsiranavor, Saint Gregory Cathedral, Tsitsernakaberd, opera houses, theatres, museums, libraries and cultural institutions. Do not forget to enjoy a good drink when the sun goes down. Yerevan has an extensive nightlife scene with a broad variety of nightclubs, cafés, casinos, restaurants.

The Yerevan Botanical Garden of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences, is the responsible body for plant collections in Armenia. It is located in the Avan district at the north-eastern part of the capital Yerevan, occupying around 80 hectares of a semi deserted area. The collection includes more than 200 species of endemic, rare and declining plants, and provides a basis for the study of Armenian flora and the ecological interactions of species, in a relatively natural environment.
