When the natives, the slaves and the European met at the ports along Rio de la Plata, they all brought something from their homes: Argentinian Milonga, Spanish-Cuban Habanera, African Candombe, Czech Polka, Polish Mazurka and German Waltz resulted into Tango. Widely danced all over the world, it is in Argentina where it is most appreciated. Eno-gastronomy is also a reason why Argentina deserves a visit: tender steaks that can be cut without a knife (the locals say) and Malbec wine from the Mendoza wine region, empanadas for snack and sweets for breakfast can be enjoyed in the whole country. The Historical Museum of the North has its seat in the historic building of the Cabildo, which, in the same act of the foundation of Salta (1582), defined the site for its location. In 1942 the National Government recovers it for its restoration, later opening its doors as Historical Museum in August of 1949.
