The Péré Vergé family, beyond being the owners of the Monteviejo winery, are a family that is passionate about the great wines of the world.

The family, under the entrepreneurial and thriving vision of Catherine, arrived in Argentina at the end of the 90s, in order to build a winery that was one of her favorite places in the world.

After the departure of Catherine in 2013, her family, led by Henry Parent, continues with the tireless passion to make great wines in Argentina.

Monteviejo Winery is located at the foot of the Cordillera de los Andes, in the heart of Valle de Uco, one of the main wine regions of Argentina: 120 km from the city of Mendoza, Vista Flores, Tunuyán, within the group of properties of Clos de los Siete. The property comprises 130 ha at an altitude between 1000 and 1200 meters above sea level in Vista Flores, Tunuyán, 120 km south of the city of Mendoza. Its lands with slopes facing North and East have the best exposure to the sun within the Southern Hemisphere. The construction of the winery began at the beginning of 2001, making the first harvest in 2002. On a total area of 8 500m2, Monteviejo has a gravitational system with double ribbon selection of bunches and grains. The objective is to transport the raw material without the use of pumps, taking care not to damage it in any part of the process. From the harvest to the fractionation through the draining of the wine from the vats in the aging barrels, the wine follows its natural slope ... Only the strength of the weight of the grapes is used to move it from top to bottom. Marcelo Pelleriti is today one of the referents of the world enology. As General Director and Oenological Director of the family, he developed professionally in France and Argentina as a great terroir interpreter. With the help of his wise teacher Michel Rolland, he took his own flight making wines that stand out in the world.

Marcelo has been managing the Bordeaux harvests of Chateau La Violette, Chateau Le Gay and Chateau Montviel for over 14 years (owned by the family that owns Monteviejo), living in France from September to November since 2002.

His great experience made him the first Latin American winemaker to obtain 100 points from Robert Parker with a French wine and at the same time obtain high scores in Argentine wines. A great lover of music, Marcelo took refuge playing his guitars in their resting hours at the grape harvest.

The vineyards were arranged in a high trellis system, with a height of 1.8 meters, with a high density of 5,500 plants per hectare, distributed in small plots between 1 and 3 hectares to follow the traceability of the vineyard. The chosen clones of the traditional varieties are of French origin of low production and high quality. For the cultivation of malbec, native selections of ancient vineyards were chosen with an excellent adaptability to the terroir as there is no other anywhere in the world. In Vista Flores, the vine enjoys climatic and geographic conditions especially and the management of them is done without additions or fertilizers respecting their natural cycles and their harvest is manual.
