November 23, 2022

Continuing my “3-day itinerary” series, I am now back with this page to suggest a new route during which you’ll have the chance to explore some of the most beautiful cities of the **northern Greece.**

Let’s now suppose that you’re landing for one more time in Thessaloniki and you’re looking for an alternative kind of holiday where you can explore amazing locations out of the beaten track. Where would you go and what cities would you visit?

In the itinerary that follows, I’ve prepared a few locations that would definitely steal your heart, whether you’re traveling to Greece during winter or summer! Let’s start! **Unlike the last time, this time we go east and we discover together 3 of the most beautiful cities that can be found on our way! **Enjoy!

Day 1. Thessaloniki

As mentioned above, your starting point for one more time would be the beautiful city of **Thessaloniki, **known in Greece as the Nymph of the North. While in Thessaloniki, sooner or later you’ll notice that the old and new cohabit wonderfully: the Arch of Galerius, an intricate 4th-century monument, overlooks the busy shopping drag of Egnatia, while Thessaloniki’s most famous sight, the White Tower, anchors a waterfront packed with cocktail bars. The new waterfront has breathed life and opened up space for long walks and cycling. More information regarding the activities and the recommended sightseeing while in Thessaloniki can be found here.

Day 2. From Thessaloniki to Kavala

Only 2 hours driving away from Thessaloniki, Kavala is a city recommended and worth a visit! Built amphitheatrically on the slopes of Mt. Symvolo,** Kavala and its port is actually forming one of the most graphic landscape destinations in Greece.** While there, do not miss the chance to walk around the city, visit its archaeological monuments, interact with the locals, and explore its cuisine! At the same time, get some rest while grabbing a cold coffee and enjoying the view from its the top!

Day 3. From Kavala to Xanthi

The Old Town of Xanthi is known throughout Greece for its distinctive architecture, combining many Byzantine Greek churches with neoclassical mansions of Greek merchants from the 18th and 19th centuries and Ottoman-era mosques.** The city has rich history, tradition and customs and it is the cultural center of the area. It is also considered a multi-cultural city and it has been characterized as “the city of the thousand colours”.** Worth a visit! What do you think?

Get the chance to travel locally and experience the Greek culture in smaller cities, such as Xanthi & Kavala! Ready to explore them all? More tips and similar itineraries are about to be revealed soon! All you have to do is just stay tuned on our page! Cheers!
